Gold and sterling silver are different precious-metal categories with different prices, colors, maintenance and product positioning. Neither is automatically “better”; choose based on budget, use and the look you want.

Gold

10K contains approximately 41.7% pure gold and 14K approximately 58.3%. Gold jewelry can be solid, semi-solid or hollow construction while still being real karat gold.

Sterling Silver 925

Sterling silver contains approximately 92.5% silver. It can tarnish and normally requires more frequent polishing than gold jewelry.

Value

Gold generally has a much higher market value per gram than silver, but the ratio changes with commodity prices. Use current spot prices rather than a fixed “X times more valuable” claim.

Color and skin tone

Choose yellow gold, white gold or silver based on personal preference. We do not assign metal choices to ethnicity or skin tone.
