Real 10K and 14K gold jewelry can collect residue, lose luster and show surface changes from chemicals, cosmetics, sweat and wear. A simple care routine reduces unnecessary damage.

Cleaning

Start with lukewarm water and mild soap. Use a soft cloth or very soft brush only when appropriate for the construction. Rinse and dry completely.

Avoid aggressive home cleaning

Do not use toothpaste, bleach, acids, concentrated ammonia or abrasive powders. Do not use ultrasonic or steam equipment unless you know the specific piece, stones, solder and construction are compatible.

Storage

Store pieces separately in a dry environment. Close chain clasps and avoid sharp bends, especially with hollow or delicate construction.

Daily wear

Remove jewelry before swimming, physical work, contact sports or activities where it could catch on equipment. Keep chemicals and strong cleaning agents away from the piece.

Repairs

Repairability depends on style, damage, thickness and construction. Solid pieces are not automatically repairable, and hollow pieces are not automatically impossible to repair. A jeweler must inspect the item.
